We are delighted to share that our school’s participation in the 2024–25 “Joint Primary and Secondary School Activity – From Soybean Planting to Cherishing Food” successfully concluded on June 2025. This meaningful initiative was organized by Soyvestors, founded by Professor Lam Hon-Ming of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. It marked the first collaboration between our school and Aberdeen St. Peter's Catholic Primary School, as we jointly took part in the five-month “Joint Primary and Secondary School Soybean STEAM Learning Program,” which comprised a total of eight lessons.
Throughout the program, the student mentors (secondary school students) came well-prepared for each session, patiently guiding the primary school students through various tasks. They successfully created a lively and engaging classroom atmosphere and performed exceptionally well. The primary school students also demonstrated great enthusiasm for learning, continuously improving their skills in observation, recording, and critical thinking.
In the final session, both primary and secondary students visited The Chinese University of Hong Kong for a presentation event. They opened their time capsules, engaged in in-depth discussions with Professor Lam, and toured his laboratory and greenhouse. The primary school students were thoroughly prepared for their presentations, showing professionalism and confidence. They even prepared special thank-you gifts for the secondary student mentors to express their heartfelt gratitude for the past few months.
Through this activity, we were thrilled to witness the maturity and growth of the student mentors in their teaching roles. Their reflections and personal insights were deeply moving. Professor Lam concluded the event with the themes “What is Life?” and “Teaching and Learning Grow Together,” encouraging students to pass on the knowledge they have gained—an inspiring and meaningful message.
We extend our sincere thanks to all the teachers and students who participated, as well as the dedicated team working behind the scenes. Your efforts made this event a great success. We look forward to continuing to promote more meaningful inter-school collaborations in the future, providing students with even more opportunities to learn and grow.
